3 Popular low cost sleep aids
As a person who lives with chronic back pain I have tried many common sleep aids and both OTC sleeping pills and prescription sleeping pills. Here I will discuss a few of the Aids I have found useful over the years to help achieve restful sleep and to help relieve lower back pain overnight.
For me the best low cost sleep aid is a body pillow. Honestly… How can I get a good night sleep without one? If you don’t know what this is, it’s a long pillow meant to be slept next to. I’f you are a side sleeper like me then you may benefit from this sleep aid as I do. I put it between my knees and throw and arm over the top of it also. This position seems to relieve the stress from my lower back as well as anything.
Ladies… You can always just try throwing an arm and a leg over the top of your husbands…. Men, I don’t recommend you try the same to her…
In a pinch even your family dog can work!
OTC Sleeping Pills:
There is never a shortage of over the counter sleeping pills for sale. This seems to be a bottomless revenue source for companies. Personally I have questions about the whole unregulated supplement industry.
That said, I have tried many in my desperation as most people have I assume. Most of these products contain a few of the same ingredients and then each seem to have a few “filler” ingredients of their own. From what I’m seen in the stores and read online the main ingredients I see are Melatonin, Magnesium and Chamomile.
From the brands I have tried the results have been minimal to none. it’s hard to tell but I have not used any one brand that I think works well enough to recommend. Your results may vary.
Prescription Sleeping Pills:
I’m not going to say a whole lot about these. There is many better sources of information available to you online about prescription medications. As for myself after years taking pain medicine and struggling to get myself off of those I don’t take any prescription medicines anymore unless it’s essential.
I have taken them in the past and they do work obviously. If anything I would say for me they worked too well. I often woke up completely lost not knowing where I was and with total brain fog that took hours to lift.
Where to buy these cheap sleep aids?
Well obviously the prescription medicines you need to consult your family physician. They are available online from overseas but I do not recommend you buy them there. Those medicines are totally unregulated, you have no idea what you will get. Even if they work you don’t know what they are using as the filler material as only a small portion of the pill is actually the active ingredients in most cases.
Body Pillows are not always available at every store. I live in the country and only have a well known big box store available to me and they do not stock them. For me where I live I buy almost everything from amazon. If you fallow the Buy Now link on my home page you will be able to further search for body pillows there as well.
The OTC sleeping pills are available at almost any store or pharmacy over the counter. If you find a brand you truly feel works well then please feel free to email me and give me your own Sleeping aid review!
